Some things Our Lawyers Love

Terms and Conditions

My hat studio is in the charming Hudson Valley area of New York State. While the location is bucolic, it also means that I charge sales tax for orders to a New York State address. The website processes credit card payments through STRIPE. This allows me to keep the overhead costs at a reasonable level.

SHIPPING
Shipping costs are calculated automatically during checkout. We do our best to keep shipping costs to a reasonable rate. Our company ships through several carriers: UPS, USPS, FedEx, or DHL. We happily support and love our international customers but want to mention that Millinery Treasures is not responsible for duty or brokerage fees related to international shipping. These charges come from your country during the importation of your package. None of this applies if you have only purchased a digital tutorial product.  Digital products are delivered through a membership hub which you will have access to 24/7 unless there are technical difficulties.

RETURNS
If a hat or other product is damaged in shipping, of course, it may be returned for a replacement or store credit. Contact me immediately upon receipt of the damaged item and email a picture of the shipping box and the damaged product. You’ll want to note that this policy holds for 30 days. If more time has gone by since your purchase, unfortunately, we can’t offer you a refund, credit, or exchange. Please open your packages when they arrive. Only regularly priced items may be refunded. Custom pieces and sale items cannot be refunded. We offer gift cards as a wonderful way to allow someone to select exactly what they want. Because they are so wonderful, we can’t offer refunds on gift cards.

If you seriously need a replacement item (because the mail carrier sat on it), send an email to info@millinerytreasures.com. We’ll require a receipt or proof of purchase and you’ll need to pay for the shipping cost to return the item. If you are shipping an item over $30, use a trackable shipping service and remember to purchase shipping insurance. This usually ensures that the shipping company doesn’t lose the package being returned. Send your item and a note with your name, address, and email to:

Millinery Treasures – Returns Department
297 Red Mills Road
Freehold, NY 12431

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email notification. All refunds will have the cost of shipping deducted from the amount issued. Your refund will be processed and the credit will be automatically applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within 7-10 days. If you haven’t received a refund within this timeframe, first check your bank account. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is “officially” posted. So before you contact us about the refund you haven’t received, contact your bank first. Banks love to add processing time before a refund is posted. They make money on this. If you’ve done ALL of these steps and you STILL have not received your refund yet, please contact us again at info@millinerytreasures.com.

If you purchased a digital product, we want you to love the tutorial. That is why refunds are available within 48 hours of purchase. Send an email to diy@millinerytreasures.com stating why you are requesting a refund for your digital purchase. We understand that there is nothing to return, but it's the same department that handles refunding your money. You will receive an email acknowledgment, your refund will be processed, and the credit will be automatically applied to your credit card or original method of payment within 7-10 days. If you have not received the credit, please read the previous paragraph on what to do.

PRIVACY POLICY

This privacy policy governs the manner in which Millinery Treasures LLC collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User”) of the millinerytreasures.com website (“Site”). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by Millinery Treasures.

Can you tell this was written by the lawyers?

We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, register on the site, place an order, fill out a form, respond to a survey, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, phone number. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities. We want to protect the privacy of the very young. For that reason, our website is structured to attract adults who can afford to purchase our products. If you are a parent of a child younger than 13 we strongly encourage you to monitor your child’s activity and figure out how they got hold of your credit card.

We may collect non-personal information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. The non-personal information may include the browser name, the type of computer, and technical information about Users' means of connection, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized as well as other similar information. Our Site may use “cookies” to enhance the User experience. We have a whole section on the use of cookies if you just keep scrolling down. Web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about Users. You may choose to set the web browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent, with the understanding that some parts of the Site may not function properly.

Millinery Treasures may collect and use User's personal information for the following purposes:

To run and operate our Site. Basically, we may need your information to display content on the Site correctly.
To improve customer service. The information you provide helps us respond to your requests and needs.
To personalize the user experience. We want to understand how our Users as a group use our Site.
To improve our Site. Feedback is really important to improve our products and services.
To process payments. It should come as no surprise that we use the information that users provide when placing an order. Rest assured that we do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service. The US Post Office likes it when we include a shipping name and address on a package.
To run a promotion, contest, survey, or other Site feature. You win something in exchange…enough said.
To send periodic emails. Guess what? We may use the email address to send updates pertaining to the order. You would be rather miffed if we didn’t. We may also use the information to respond to inquiries, questions, and/or other requests. Again, you would be miffed if we just ignored you.
To do other activities not yet created. This is a catch-all for things that don’t yet exist. After all, who knew that someday phones would be mini computers.
We don’t want to annoy you so we adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site. However, we are a small business and do not have the resources of NCIS.

We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates, and advertisers for the purposes outlined above. We may use third-party service providers to help us operate our business, the Site, and/or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. We may share your information with these third parties for those limited purposes provided that you have given us your permission. REMEMBER THERE HAS TO BE AN UNSUBSCRIBE BUTTON ON EVERY EMAIL. Just click on it and the dreaded activity will cease.

If User decides to opt-in to our mailing list, they will receive emails that may include company news, updates, related product or service information, etc. We may use third-party service providers to help us operate our business and the Site or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. We may share your information with these third parties for those limited purposes provided that you have given us your permission.

We hope that you are not surprised that Millinery Treasures has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. Be assured that when we do, we will post a notification on the main page of our Site. We encourage Users who have lots of free time to frequently check this page for any changes. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically when you can’t sleep in the middle of the night and become aware of all changes. Let’s face it. By using this Site, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use our Site. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of changes to this policy will be deemed your acceptance of those changes.

COOKIE POLICY
As we’ve already mentioned…This site uses cookies and we’re not talking about the chocolate chip kind. It’s about small text files that are secretly placed on your machine. You may think it’s a conspiracy but it’s really to help the site provide a better user experience (as WE define it!) Basically, cookies retain user preferences (because we all know what it’s like to be forgetful), store information for shopping carts, and provide tracking data to third-party applications like Almighty Google and their Analytics. As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. At least that’s what everyone is told.

You CAN disable cookies on this site and on others. The best way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. If you can figure out how to do this in a relatively short period of time, we might want to hire you.
